Ingredients You Will Need
To create this gorgeous and refreshing fat burn infused water you will need to gather a few simple ingredients from your local market or health food store.
Two tablespoons of dried organic hibiscus flowers or three pure hibiscus tea bags
One cup of fresh or frozen mixed berries such as strawberries and blueberries and raspberries
One medium lemon sliced into thin rounds
Half a cup of fresh mint leaves lightly clapped to release their natural oils
Four cups of boiling water to steep the hibiscus flowers
Four cups of ice cold filtered water
Two cups of ice cubes for serving
Optional one tablespoon of pure honey or a few drops of liquid stevia if you prefer a sweeter taste
Step by Step Method
Making this infused water is a very simple and rewarding process that involves brewing a concentrated floral tea and then letting it chill with fresh fruits and herbs.
First you need to brew your hibiscus base to extract all the beautiful color and tart flavor from the dried petals. Place your two tablespoons of dried hibiscus flowers or the three tea bags into a large heat safe glass pitcher or a medium cooking pot. Pour the four cups of boiling water directly over the flowers and stir gently with a long spoon. Let the mixture sit and steep for about ten to fifteen minutes. You will notice the water instantly turning a very dark and rich ruby red color as the flowers release their natural juices.
After fifteen minutes use a fine mesh strainer to remove the spent hibiscus flowers or lift out the tea bags from the hot liquid. If you like your drinks to have a little bit of sweetness you should stir in your tablespoon of honey or liquid stevia while the water is still warm so that it dissolves completely. If you prefer a totally tart and clean flavor you can skip the sweetener entirely. Set the pitcher aside on your counter and let the liquid cool down to room temperature for about thirty minutes.
