Bought a weird ceramic jar at a spring estate sale. It has a lid with a finger sized hole in the center and hand painted flowers. No smells, completely empty inside. Anyone know what this thing is?

The ceramic jar stands approximately 5 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. Its smooth, glossy surface is decorated with delicate hand-painted florals that suggest it was crafted with care and skill.
